Vacation Rental Information

Office and Reservation Hours - Our office is open 9-5pm daily, except for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Reservations will be taken by phone at 1-866-351-1119 or 24 hours at www.deepcreekvacations.com. Our knowledgeable staff will be awaiting your call to help you create the perfect vacation with one of our vacation rental homes.

Occupancy Each of our vacation rental properties have a designated occupancy limit. This limit does not include children 2 or younger. If overcrowding occurs during anytime of reservation immediate eviction will occur without any refund.

Family Only Policy We have a family group only policy at Taylor-Made deep Creek Vacations, and must be 24 years of age to sign the rental contract and receive a keyless entry. We do not allow Sororities, Fraternities, Wedding Receptions, Spring Break Parties, or any other such groups unless previously approved at the time of reservation. If approved, an additional security deposit and extra cleaning fees may apply.

Pet Friendly - Dogs only are allowed in designated Pet Friendly homes. NO EXCEPTIONS. Pets are limited to two domestic, housebroken dogs. There is a non-refundable $40 (plus tax) per dog fee for four nights or less plus $10 for every additional night per dog above the four nights. Please inform the reservationist at the time of booking your reservation. Any violation with pets in a non-pet home will be cause for termination of tenancy with no refund.

Holidays Make Deep Creek Lake your holiday getaway! The following dates have a 3 night stay minimum requirement: President’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and New Year’s Eve. For Thanksgiving there is a 15% increase for lake front and 10% increase for all other properties and town homes.

Payments We do not accept traveler’s checks, money orders, certified checks, or treasurer’s checks.

If you are making a reservation beyond 6 months in advance:
After making your reservation, we will send you a Lease Agreement requesting your first payment, which amounts to 25% of the rental rate. We will need to receive this within 10 days of making the reservation. The next payment of 25%of the rental rate will be due 6 months prior to your reservation (please mark your calendar for this date, no bill will be mailed). Your last payment of 25% of the rental rate will be due 30 days prior to arrival, in which you will be paid in full.

If you make a reservation between 31 days to 6 months in advance:
After making your reservation, we will send you a Lease Agreement requesting your first payment, which amounts to 50% of the rental rate. We will need to receive this within 10 days of making your reservation. Your last payment of 50% of the rental rate will be due 30 days prior to arrival, in which you will be paid in full.

If you are making a reservation with 30 days of your arrival:
Full payment is due at time of making your reservation by either cash or credit card.

Taxes All reservations will be subject to an administrative fee, 6% Maryland State Tax, and 5% accommodation tax.
*All tax amounts are factored into your final payment amount on your rental lease and are subject to change without notice.*

Returned Checks - Any check returned for "insufficient funds" or "stopped payment" will not be resubmitted. We will contact you and require that payment be received within 48 hours by credit card. A fee of $35 will be charged for any returned check.

Cancellations and Transfers - To cancel or change a confirmed reservation, please call us as soon as you know you will be unable to vacation to give us as much time as possible to re-rent your home. We will need written notification of cancellation or change signed by the leaseholder that can be sent via mail, fax or e-mail. We will try our best to re-rent your property, if it is successfully re-rented and confirmed, you will be refunded the rent and taxes, less a $100.00 cancellation fee plus travel insurance or $30 fee for any reservation changes. If we are able to re-rent your week but at less than the full amount of your reservation, your refund will be prorated to reflect the difference of the lower rental rate If you purchased the optional Travel Insurance, that insurance premium will not be refunded, and charged the $100 cancellation fee. If your home does not successfully re-rent you will forfeit all monies paid to Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations.

Refunds - Your reservation and signed Vacation Rental Agreement binds you to a specific home and a specific period of time. There should be no expectation of refunds or relocation because you are disappointed with the property you have rented or because something associated with the property is not working to your satisfaction. Unlike a hotel, we cannot relocate you without specific authorization from the cottage Owner. We will make every effort to correct any problems that arise during your stay in a timely manner. However, there will be no refunds for mechanical failure of nonessential items such as air conditioners, TVs, DVDs, grills, recreational games and equipment, deck furniture, dishwashers, washers/dryers, hot tubs, or other luxury items. Cottages with multiple TVs, VCRs and DVDs will not be provided with a loaner.

Travel Protection Plan - Your total rate includes an optional Travel Insurance Protection Plan, if you choose not to accept this insurance please initial it off and send back with your original payment. Please refer to pamphlet on complete details on the insurance.

Damage/Accidents to Rental Property - Leaseholder agrees to notify the Rental Agent as to any damages or accidents that occur to the premises, to both real property and personal property during your rental period.  If the agent determines that no intentional or wanton or willful misconduct was done, the agent will repair/replace as needed up to $2500 (does not include pet damage).  Any damage or accident that exceeds $2500 will be the responsibility of the leaseholder.  DAMAGES MUST BE REPORTED PRIOR TO CHECK-OUT IN ORDER FOR THE RENTAL AGENCY TO REPAIR/REPLACE SAID DAMAGES.  OTHERWISE, ALL DAMAGE COSTS WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE LEASEHOLDER.

Early Check in and Late Check Out

Summer Season – Check in time is at 4 pm, if you want to start your vacation early, please call your reservationist up to two weeks in advance to see if early check in is available for your vacation property. If available, there will be a $35 fee (plus tax) applied to your reservation to check in at 1 pm. If you want a couple of extra hours in the morning before departing your vacation rental, again please contact your reservationist up to two weeks prior to your arrival. If available, you will be charged $35 (plus tax) to your reservation to check out at 1 pm opposed to 10am.

Other Seasons – For an additional fee of $20 you can reserve early check in or late check out of your vacation rental, giving you up to four extra hours in your property. Please contact the reservationist no earlier than 3 days in advance to your arrival or departure to reserve this.

Check in and Checkout Procedures

Checking in – In the summer, check in days are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, please refer to your property page for exact date of check in. Check in time is at 4 pm year round, your keyless entry code and directions to your property will be emailed to the leaseholder 1 week prior to arrival. If reserving within a week, your code and directions will be given to you at time of booking. The keyless code will start to work at 4pm, unless you booked an early check in. If you have a balance or need to sign papers you are requested to check in at our office. Your keyless entry code will not be given out if there is a balance on your reservation.

Check Out – Check out in the early summer, summer and late summer season is at 10am, all other seasons check out will be at 12 pm. You do not have to check out at the office (unless you have a balance or papers to sign); simply call the Instant Status Tracker on your way out notifying our office you are checking out of the home.

Check Out Procedures:
  • Notify Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations of any Damage.
  • Place all trash in the outside receptacles and leave receptacles by the road for trash pickup, or take to community dumpster if applicable to your rental property.
  • Straighten and return all furniture to its original configuration.
  • Remove debris and straighten all decks.
  • Leave all linens and towels in the home and all beds unmade.
  • Clean and put away all dishes including those in the dishwasher.
  • Clean all food out of the refrigerator.
  • Leave the refrigerator and freezer settings on medium.
  • Please turn off all small appliances such as coffee pot, blender, etc.
  • Turn off all inside and outside lights.
  • Make sure all doors and windows are locked and secure.
  • Please leave hot tub locked.
  • In the winter time please leave the thermostat at 60 degrees and hot ashes in the fireplace.
  • Call into Instant Status Tracker to check out over the telephone
  • If your home requires extra cleaning because you left it in poor condition, you may be charged an additional cleaning fee.

Transient Vacation Rental Unit Ordinance

Garrett County has an ordinance that applies to all vacation rental properties. Please abide by these rules or immediate eviction could occur with no refund.

Parking – Your property is designated with a parking limit. Please do not exceed the maximum number of cars allowed for your designated property. Please reframe from parking on all roads, and no motor homess are allowed.

Noise Ordinance – Noise ordinance is in effect from 11pm to 8am. Please remember that outside voices do carry over the water, and be respectful o f your neighbor when in your hot tub.

Trash – All trash must be disposed of in your bear proof trash canister or your assigned community dumpster.

What we provide Linens and towels are provided for every vacation rental property for the maximum occupancy (2 towels & 1 wash cloth per person). Your beds will be made prior to your arrival. Please do not remove any linens or towels from premises. A welcome bag will be available at each property with a starter kit (items are subject to change) to begin your vacation.

A starter kit will be provided for each reservation, including:

  • 1 toilet paper roll per bathroom
  • 1 paper towel roll
  • Small packet of dish detergent
  • 1 trash bag for kitchen trash can
  • Small pack of Laundry detergent

All homes are equipped with coffee makers, toasters, blenders, pots and pans, dishes, cooking utensils, flatware, and glasses. Please refer to individual property page with a specific listing of amenities for your particular property. If you are in need of special items for your stay please bring them along, such as, chef’s knives, food processors, specialty pots and pans, and so on.

All properties have a telephone for you to use which will allow you to make local phone calls at no charge. Some of the properties will have unlimited long distance nationwide (please refer to property page for particular amenity). All other properties, you will need to utilize a calling card to make any long distance or collect phone calls. It is possible for your telephone service to be interrupted, if so we will make every effort to correct the problem, but cannot guarantee the replacement or repair.

What you need to bring

  • All Purpose Cleaner
  • Bath Soap
  • Staple Items (salt, pepper, sugar, etc.)
  • Condiments
  • Beach Towels for lake, hot tub, and/or pool

Type of Lake Access All properties around Deep Creek Lake will vary in slope, distance, view and accessibility to the lake. Please ask your reservationist for specifics details on your property.

Lakefront means there is no road between you and the lake, and refers to any property that borders the buffer zone around the lake. The lakefront can vary up to 200 yards away, in which it may be level or with steps to the water. Please ask your reservationist for details on your particular property.

Lake Access means that you have access to the lake for swimming, you may either be able to walk or you might have to drive to your lake access. The property owner does not own this access.

Split Lakefront means the property owner owns the land that borders the buffer zone; however, there is a road between you and the lake.

Hot tubs and Private Pools - Hot tubs should be ready for use by 4:00 pm on your check in day. Hot tubs receive a full clean on check in day and chemical check mid week for all week long stays. Pools are chemically treated and serviced on your arrival day, and every day of your stay for chemical checks. Charges will apply for any additional cleaning required due to guest negligence or abuse.

Miscellaneous

1. Construction – Deep Creek Lake is a growing resort area. New Construction can occur often without us being aware; it may alter your view, cause additional noise, and other concerns. No refunds or moves will be made due to construction.

2. Motor Homes – Motor Homes are not permitted at any of the vacation rentals. If you are bringing one, please speak with your reservationist for a place to park your motor home during your vacation.

3. Docks – Docks may be private or community, dependent on your vacation rental. We do not guarantee docks between Labor Day and Memorial Day, and according to the Department of Natural Resources all docks need to be removed from the water by December 1st. Only occupants of the property are allowed on the private docks and may be able to dock 1 or 2 boats dependent on the DNR permit issued to the property (Please ask your reservationist for details on a particular property). Dock slip means that there is a community dock and you have access to one of the slips on the community dock.
