Autumn Glory Festival At Deep Creek Lake

The five-day Autumn Glory Festival celebrates the beautiful colors of our local fall foliage which peaks in mid-October and brings in more than 60,000 people to the local area. Before it is now known, it started as a turkey grower's festival. The Turkey Trail on the Garrett Heritage website lists the numerous local restaurants and churches that serve up delicious dinners centered around the turkey which is still an important part of the Autumn Glory Festival tradition.

Festival Events

Autumn Glory Carnival
The town of Oakland hosts an annual carnival on Liberty Street with more than a dozen rides along with games and food.

Festival Kick-Off
The evening features a cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres and a full-course dinner including assorted desserts. A presentation follows with an introduction of the Autumn Glory King & Queen, a Sponsor Recognition Presentation, a Golden Ambassador Presentation and a Commemorative Photo Auction. The evening ends with live music and dancing.

Fireman's Parade
A family-friendly event takes place at the Oakland Fire Hall sponsored by the Oakland Volunteer Fire Dept with an evening parade to follow.

Banjo, Fiddle & Mandolin Championship
This Maryland State Championship is not to be missed on Friday and Saturday evening.

Autumn Glory Parade
The Grand Feature Parade is held on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. Thousands of people gather to enjoy regional bands, local professional and amateur floats, dance teams and dignitaries. Parade concessions and a children's tent with crafts, popcorn and face-painting are also available.

Glorious Harvest Farmer's Market & Craft Show
The old-fashioned market and craft show in downtown Oakland features handmade arts & crafts, homemade baked goods, lots of pumpkins, fall decorations, and homegrown fresh vegetables and fruits, jams and jellies, cheese, meats, and more!

Antiques, Vintage & Maker's Market
The Civic Club hosts this annual market on Saturday where you can browse treasures at the Oakland Community Center.

The Autumn Glory Craft & Gift Show
Held Saturday and Sunday at the Garrett County Fairgrounds. Lots of craft vendors showcase their handmade crafts and gifts. Festival apparel is also available for purchase and includes t-shirts, sweatshirts and more. Admission and parking are free.

Fall Foliage Heritage Driving Tours
Choose from a short or extended driving tour throughout beautiful Garret County. The fall colors begin to show in late September and peak mid-October so you can enjoy the best color during the time of the festival.
