Overall we enjoyed our vacation stay at this property. It is a rustic lake cottage which is clear from the photos posted on the listing. I'd guess the cottage dates to the 1950's or thereabout. It has a certain charm for those who may have grown up spending summers at places like this. Sadly, these kind of places seem to be disappearing from the shores of Deep Creek lake to make room for the McMansions. The location, lakefront lot with picnic pavilion and fire ring and private dock and the are the most attractive features of Simpson's. The house could be improved with updates to kitchen and baths and new furniture along with a sprucing up of the exterior of the building. We enjoyed having our two dogs along for the trip and we think they both thought they had died and gone to heaven (both retrievers who like to swim). We did not have any issues with the house or appliances during our stay. Everything worked and the kitchen was well equipped for preparing meals. I will say that the opening and closing the insulating cover on the hot tub is a difficult chore. It unexpectedly fell down on top of a couple of bathers once because there is no way to secure it in the open position. I went in with reasonable expectations for a property of this vintage and overall was satisfied and sometimes pleasantly surprised by its character.
